Favourite Blush Series - Top 5

1. Maybelline Cheeky Glow in "Creamy Cinammon"

I started my blush journey with this one. When I swatched this blush at the mall, I instantly liked the shade; it's perfect for everyday use especially during the day. It's a "safe" shade for those who wish to start using blush but don't wish to use pinks, peaches and corals right away.

Aptly named, 'Creamy Cinammon' is the lightest peach shade with brownish undertones. Not to worry, the brown tones won't make your face look muddy :-) It's a matte blush and can be used as an everyday shade to give your face a natural flush. Great for office too if that what you're looking for!

2. Makeup Revolution Baked Blush in "Loved me the Best"

I was in a 'bold' phase when I bought this shade online. I wanted a reddish-pink blush to add to my collection & found this perfect one on Flipkart. I have done a full review on it HERE.

3. Miss Claire blush in no. 25

This beauty was passed on by my Sis-in-law, M from Pune. I wore this at my lil nephew's birthday party and loved it. Since she had liked it sooo much herself, she decided to let me try it out as well.

The shade is a beautiful light coral which is best suited for fair to medium skin tones. This one has shimmer too but they aren't finely milled. I have saved this for evenings as it looks a bit much for the day time.

4. Wet n Wild Coloricon blush in "Pearlescent Pink"

When my other Sis in law V, was flying to the US, she has asked me what I'd like from there in terms of makeup ( I have the world's best sisters-in-law... I know!!!) . I had my mind set on trying out the US drugstore Items, epsecially Wet n Wild, ELF and Physicians Formula. In my list of 'must trys' I had included this beautiful blush that is supposedly a dupe of the very famous NARS Orgasm.

It's beautiful pink blush and looks completely natural on the skin. I highly recommend this one if you're a fan of peachey blushes. However, if you like matte blushes this one may not be the one for you.. its got finely milled shimmer in it. When I wear this, I skip highlighter altogether. This shade would look great on all skin tones!! I definitely recommend this one.

5. Lakme 9 to 5 Blush in "Peach Affair"

I won this in a giveaway on Youtube. Once I started using it, I knew why it was loved so much. At one point in time, I was using only this blush and not showing any love to the other ones in my collection (which later I apologised to them for ;-)..lol) You can see the pan to know how much I have used this beauty.

Its a deep peach shade that goes very well with traditional Indian outfits. Its got tiny gold shimmers that brighten up the face. If you catch me at a function wearing any Indian Ethnic outfit, I'll most definitely be wearing this blush ðŸ˜ƒ This shade would suit mostly all Indian skin tones.

What are some of your favourite blushes? Do let me know in the comments section below :-)  I'd love to hear some of your recommendations too.

Until the next post, Ciao!

Loreal Silkissime Liner in Purple Punch - Eye Makeup Look

Hi Everyone!

I've been guilty of drafting this post and not really completing it for such a long time now. I just had to sit down and do it today.. lol I'm sure I wouldn't have been able to sleep if I didn't ;-)

I have followed Shikha (from dressnmakeup) on Instagram for over a year now and I adore her profile. I won the Loreal Silkissime liner in Purple Punch in Shikha's giveaway and have been itching to use it in a makeup look. I created this makeup look some time ago for an evening out with friends.

Step 1 - Apply your favourite eyeshadow primer. A primer will help your eye makeup stay for a longer time without creasing. Dust a flesh-toned eyeshadow shade all over the eyelids and all the way up to your eyebrows. This will set the primer and brighten the area for more colour.

Step 2 - Apply the Purple liner on the upper lashline. Don't worry about being perfect like you would be with a liquid liner; just apply it right above the lashes. With a pencil brush / smudger brush, smudge the purple liner.

Step 3 - Take a light brown eyeshadow and apply it over your crease area to deepen it. Let it blend in well with the purple that's below it. You can always reapply the purple later to make it stand out.

Step 4 - (Optional) Line the lower lashline with kajal to add some definition to your eyes. I usually do this step when I'm using a bold colour on the eyelid. You can skip this if you like.

There you go!! Your ''Purple Eye Look'' with the Loreal Silkissime Liner is ready..!!

Bonus tips - Here are some other ways I like to use this gorgeous purple liner ...

1. Use the Loreal Silkissime Liner on upper or lower lashline. I skip kajal when I do this to make the liner colour stand out.
2. Use it for a sumdged-out look, like I've done in the above look. To define my eyes better, I like to use kajal when I do this.
3. Use the shade as an eye shadow all over your eyelid for a more dramatic evening look.

Use any colour of your choice & get creative! Always remember to have fun with Makeup!!! If you liked this post, leave me a comment below showing me some love :-) Also tell me what's your ''go-to'' look for the eyes. It could be a simple, elegant black kohl or an all-out, glamourous winged liner but I'd still love to know about it...

Until the next post, Ciao..!!

Garnier Ultra Blends Shampoo - Mythic Olive

Hi Everyone,

I've always shared reviews of products that I've really liked, on my blog. But Blogging for me isn't only about sharing information about products I like; I feel that if there's something that I've tried several times and still hasn't worked for me, it's got to come up on the blog too, so that you all can make an informed decision.

I'm here today to share my views on the new Garnier Ultra Blends Shampoo in Mythic Olive. **spoiler alert** I don't like this one.. and I mean AT ALL... :-( Read on to know why.

Let's first see what made me pick this one up -
  • Scent - It's got a lovely, olive-ey fragrance to it, which made me get this variant in this first place.
  • Beautiful packaging - Great job on the packaging. In fact, all the variants in this range have an attractive packaging that is very different from each other.
  • Price point - ₹120 . The budget-product junkie in me did a lil dance in the aisle.
  • Product claim - Since it said that the shampoo was for dry & under-nourished hair, I was more intriguied. It said that it could make the hair silkier and smoother. I thought wow! sounds great for my kinda hair.
  • Paraben Free & has Natural Extracts - I was really happy to know that the product was paraben-free. That sealed the deal for me & the shampoo successfully made it's way into the shopping cart.

Here's why I can't get myself to like it inspite of using it for over 5 washes now -
  • Makes hair extremely dry and frizzy - BBBIGGG turn-off!! I can actually feel my hair getting extremely dry and tangled during the wash, yes you heard it right...DURING the wash. I dunno if I got a bad batch product, or it's just my hair but I have other shampoos doing at least 50% of what they claimed in terms of smoothening & softening...certainly didn't expect this one to do the complete opposite. :-( I wanna cry now...!!
  • The more I kept it on my hair during the wash, the more dry and brittle my hair became. After the 1st wash I thought, maybe I need to keep it for a couple of mins more. Dry Hair. I thought maybe I need to reduce the time, so I tried that. Dry Hair. By the 4th wash, I dreaded the product but still went for it cuz you know... 120 bucks man! lol

Here I have to confess that I haven't picked up the conditioner in this Olive variant. I'm not sure if they have one because I didn't see one on the shelves that day. Also, generally, I don't have the time for a conditioner, every time I shampoo. The conditioning bit happens every now and then, but not always. Yes, of course it is a ''bad beauty habit'' I have :-( but don't tell me there aren't others like me :-P

In the end, I ended up feeling like I HAVE TO buy the conditioner to get the best use out of this shampoo... which is very silly. Shouldn't the shampoo be cleansing & slightly nourishing on the hair, by itself? Anyway, I'm planning to pick up the conditioner soon, cuz without it, I do not... I repeat... DO NOT see myself using this product again. So basically, to salvage the money I spent on buying this, I have spend some more :-( Not recommending this to anyone!! Okay I gotta go cry some more... :-P

Have you tried out the Garnier Ultra Blends Shampoo in Mythic Olive? How was your experience? Let me know your thoughts on it, in the comments section below.

Until the next post folks, Ciao..!!

One-Toned Makeup Look (Ideal for Workplace)

Hi Everyone,

Feels so good to reconnect with everyone through my lil blog! Yes, I have been away but that hasn't kept me far from my makeup & most importantly - playing around with it & creating different looks. One such look struck me as something I should share with everyone who likes minimalistic makeup. This look is ideal for your workplace but can be worn anywhere you like.

Here's my take on a One-Toned Makeup Look -

Base Makeup - Cleanse and prep your skin with moisturiser. I skipped foundation & went straight for concealer in this one. I used the Derma Color Concealer in the shade DFD to cover up the under-eye dark circles, blemishes & any other pigmentation on my skin. To set the base, I used my all time favourite compact, the Rimmel London Stay Matte powder in the shade 005 Silky Beige.

Eyes - Once the base was done, I moved on to the eyes. I stuck to earthy brown tones overall, in this look but you can choose the tone you want. The same makeup done is muted coral tones would also look great... Let me know if you want to see a post on that, in the comments below. For the eyes, I used two tones of brown - one lighter & the other slightly darker from the Wet n Wild ColorIcon Eyeshadow palette in "Comfort Zone". I used the lighter shade on the eyelid concentrating more on the inner half. I ditched the eyeshadow brush & dabbed the darker brown with my ring finger on the outer part of the eyelid. Then, using the same eyeshadow brush that I used before, I blended these two shades together. The lighter brown will bring some light on to the eyes, while the dark shade on the outer part will bring depth & definition to the crease.

To keep the eyes subtle, I skipped eyeliner & lined the lower lashline with my all time favourite kohl Lotus Herbal ColorKick Kajal. If you wish to see a close-up of the eye makeup, you can check it out HERE on my Instagram profile.

Products Used
Blush (Bronzer) & Lipstick - I skipped my usual blush for a bronzer this time as I wanted to maintain the earthy tone in this look. I used the bronzer from my ELF Blush-Bronzer Duo. For lipstick I used the Mauve1 shade from the Maybelline Lip Gradation range. I am so sorry I don't have a picture of that shade. I swapped it with my SIL when she was here for a visit. BTW, it looks fab on her!! Such a beautiful shade this Mauve1 is, I tell you! On another note, I bet you can take one look at the pic above and know how much love these products have received ;-)

You obviously don't need as many or the same products that I've used. You can recreate this look with products of your choice, add or take away some if u wish :-) For me, Makeup is all about having fun with colours & experimenting. It takes me away for sometime & I like that. Laugh it off if you will, but it's therapeutic in some ways ;-)

Hope you liked this simple "One-Toned" look. Do share your thoughts in the comments section below. Until the next post, Ciao!!!

Hi Everyone,

How have you all been? It's been a while, right? :-) I'm back on the blog after what feels like ages. Shop my Stash - March 2016

I know, I know...it's almost the end of March but believe me I've been doing this religiously & I wanted to share it with all of you! I shopped my stash this month!

Silly me, sorry...here goes - "Shopping your Stash" means trying to use up products that you already have...so that's exactly what I've been doing this month. In March, I decided to bring out some of the products in my collection that I used to like a lot, but then got lost somewhere when a new product came along.

Here's my list of 'oldies but goldies' that I've been using in March -

Bora Bora Quad
1. Bora Bora Quad by Be A Bombshell. This came as a part of my Fab Bag & as you can tell, I really, really liked the 'Brown' shade. I have already hit pan on it ;-) but still have been using it most of March. You can read about the quad HERE.

Lakme Pure Rouge Blush - 'Peach Affair'
2. Lakme 9 to 5 Pure Rouge Blush in 'Peach Affair'. I had won this lil beauty in a YouTube giveaway & it's been a favourite since then. I have used it in my celebrity-inspired makeup look - HERE & in Party Makeup looks HERE and HERE. This one's been a regular all of March.

Colorbar Kiss-Proof Lipstain '006 Mauve Dusk'
& Rimmel London Lasting Finish lipstick 'Hearbreaker'
3. Colorbar Kiss-Proof Lipstain in 'Mauve Dusk'. I had reviewed this a while back - HERE The beautiful shade & its great lasting power has brought me back to this baby, this month.

4. Rimmel London Lasting Finish Lipstick in 'Heart Breaker' - reviewed HERE I used to love this shade so much at one point in time. A great budget buy that's come back on my list for 'everyday-wear'.

CK Individual shadows

122-Copper Sun & 124-Myrrh
5. Calvin Klein individual shadows in '112 Copper Sun' & '124 Myrrh'. These satin-finish, neutral eye shadows were passed on to me by my sis-in-law M, who is a big fan of makeup like me. She had got them as gifts in one of her online orders. Thank you M..!!
A wash of these neutral shades on the eyes & it becomes so easy to go bold on the lips. The eyes don't clash with the bright, bold lips & give me the freedom to play around with colours ;-)

How about you? Is there any forgotten product that you've brought out recently? Or you'd like to? :-) Let me know in the comments section below.

Until the next post, Ciao..!!!

Himalaya Herbals Anti-Wrinkle Cream - Review

Hi Everyone,

So I'm back from Mumbai & all set to start blogging again :-) I'd taken a short break from social media as the health of a loved one was a cause of concern. I wanted to focus my time on helping out my family back in Mumbai & spend some quality time with them as well. My sister (the younger, stronger one!!) has been handling things beautifully & the situation is slightly better now. She knows that I'm just a call away & will be right there in Mumbai whenever she needs me.

Coming back to the blog, I've missed it & I'm happy to be back :-) Quiet afternoons spent blogging, are my kind of "alone time" ... they bring me peace & good vibes. So continuing that positive chain of thought, I bring to you a quick review of a product I've been loving since quite some time now.

When I saw the new premium face creams that Himalaya had launched, I thought I knew exactly which one I was going to like the best ... but turns out I was wrong! :-) It happened to like the one I least expected I would like... The Himalaya Herbals Anti-Wrinkle Cream.

Price : Rs.250/- for 50gms.

As you can tell, it's rcvd much love!

Texture & what it targets : Mainly comprising of Aloe Vera & Grapes extracts, the cream is rich & velvety in texture & moisturizes the skin really well. It makes it soft & supple while also handling dark spots and fine lines.

My Experience : I made the Himalaya Herbals Anti-Wrinkle Cream a part of my night-time routine as soon as I received it. On application, the cream quickly absorbs into the skin, leaving it supple & soft on touch. The cream isn't extremely rich which means you don't need to rub it in multiple times. It's just right enough to be absorbed by your skin. Although it's meant for Normal to Dry skin types, I feel it has worked well on my Combination skin. It never leaves my skin feeling sticky or greasy the next morning.

After about a week of using the cream, I noticed the dark spots on my face fading slowly. They're still very much there, but have reduced to a great extent. I don't have many fine lines yet, but I can safely say that you will notice a difference once you get to using this on a daily basis. In the morning, my skin feels refreshed, moisturized, plumped up & glowy, even after washing the cream away. What's more, this lil wonder is free from Alcohol and Parabens!!

The cons I'd say are that although the cream comes in sturdy packaging, it's still a glass tub & you'd risk it falling down and breaking. It's not really 'travel-friendly'. Other than that I don't find any con as such.

Will I repurchase? : Yes! This one gets a big 'Thumbs-up' from me & is a definite repurchase in the future.

Disclaimer: Product sent by brand in return for an honest review.

L’Oreal Go 360 Clean Facial Cleanser For Sensitive Skin - Review

Hi Everyone,

I had run out of my Biotique cleanser (reviewed HERE) & wanted to try out something new. Since there was an offer going on at the New U store I visited, I thought of trying the Loreal skincare range. It's not like I have extremely sensitive skin, but when I wanted to try something for the first time, I figured it should be mild & something that won't send my skin into sudden shock lol ;-).That's how I got introduced to the L’Oreal Go 360 Clean Facial Cleanser For Sensitive Skin.

 Price: Rs.399/- for 178ml

Ingredients:

Packaging: The L’Oreal Go 360 Clean Facial Cleanser For Sensitive Skin comes packaged in a white & soft blue bottle, with an attached blue scrublet. The packaging is nice & travel-friendly. Although I had covered it up before travel, the bottle didn't leak as the cap on it shuts tightly.

My Experience:

Cleanser - The cleanser has a runny consistency & is really gentle on the skin. The company claims it to be fragrance-free, but the cleanser does have a slight fragrance to it. It actually deep-cleanses the skin & leaves it feeling smooth & moisturised. Recently, I've been liking cleansers that do that, so in case I forget to moisturize, my skin doesn't feel dry & stretchy. The pores of my skin (mainly in the T-zone) don't look visibly smaller, as per the claims... I think that's taking it too far ;-) but the skin is left feeling deeply cleansed & hydrated.

Scrublet - I've got to be honest, that this lil rubber scrublet got me all curious about the product. I'd never seen anything like it before :-) It's a lil handy tool that is soft enough for everyday use & great for travelling. It's 'silicon-y' rubber bristles are great for gentle exfoliation. You all know my love for multitasking products & I feel once the cleanser is over, this cute scrublet would be great for washing my makeup brushes :-). "Don't lose it, RE-USE it!" lol I'm watching too much of those 'Paw Patrol' cartoons with my lil man!

Excuse the chipped nail polish ;-)
How I use the product - I squeeze a small amount of cleanser directly on the scrublet & apply it to my face. The circular motions of the scrublet help spread the cleanser on the face. It doesn't foam up like a normal face wash but the 'soapy' texture helps unclog pores & deep clean them. I have also tried the cleanser for 'makeup removal' & it does a great job at that! It was also able to remove waterproof mascara too, which gets it a big 'thumbs-up' from me! :-) (Avoid using the scrublet on the eyes; remove mascara slowly by rubbing the lashes between your fingers).

This is my first skincare product from L'Oreal & I'm pretty impressed by it. I don't see any 'con' as such in this product, just that it's slightly expensive for a cleanser. But if you're looking for something mild for daily cleansing that can also double up as a makeup cleanser, give the L’Oreal Go 360 Clean Facial Cleanser, a shot. There are different variants in the same range & you can pick one that's most suitable for your skin type.

Hope you liked this review. Until the next post, Ciao!!

Nivea Men After Shave Balm (Sensitive) - Review

Hi Everyone,

You must be wondering why a product primarily used by men, is on my lil beauty blog? Well, here's why ;-)

Firstly, a mini-disclaimer - #YouTubeMadeMeBuyIt Lol...yes it did, I swear! If you watch Nikkie Tutorials Youtube videos, you'd know what I'm talking about ;-) One of my favourite videos on her channel is the 'Power of Makeup' video - HERE. Nikkie was the very first YouTuber to have used the Nivea Men After Shave Balm as a 'primer' underneath the makeup & told us all that this lil wonder really works! Ready for MY quick review now? Alright, here we go...

Price: Rs.235/-.

My experience: The Nivea Men After Shave Balm (Sensitive) has a lotion-like consistency. It's quickly absorbed by the skin, leaving it soft & smooth. I love it's non-greasy, 0% alchohol formula as it keeps my skin oil-free :-) So, here are some ways that I use the balm -

1. As a simple, after-shower lotion on the face - Thanks to the Chamomile & Hamamelis (Witch-hazel) in the formula, the balm calms the skin after a hot shower. I notice reduced redness on my cheeks & thanks to it, I don't appear perpetually 'flushed' throughout the day. :-) It also moisturizes my skin to a certain extent however keeps my skin oil-free for up to 4-5 hrs.

2. As a 'Makeup Primer' - I admit I was a little surprised when the beauty channels on YouTube mentioned that it was great as a primer. I thought here we go...another trend for a lil while...but I bought this on a whim to test out & Boy! are they right or what? This balm not only ensures that my BB cream or Foundation goes on smoothly, it also helps them stay there without melting off. As a primer, the Nivea Men After Shave Balm (Sensitive), helps my base makeup to stay on for a good 5-6 hrs.

3. As an actual after-shave balm - I'm a busy mommy too & there are times when waxing appointments, seem like a distant possibility. So, my trusty 'ol Venus razor comes to my rescue. Post shaving, the Nivea Men After Shave Balm is great to clam the skin down & restore moisture. Bye-bye redness & open pores!

So if you are someone who is totally cool about scouring your partner's skincare cabinet, then you MUST try this product out! :-)

Hope you liked this review. Until the next post... Ciao!!!

MAC Flat Out Fabulous Lipstick - Review

Hi Everyone,

Being a 'Budget-product lover', I had always stayed away from buying MAC products. Sure, I lusted after the lipsticks like crazy .. (lol I wont lie to you..) but never got myself to buy any :-) In 2015, the (Makeup) Universe said "Enough of this wishful thinking...there you go!!" & one by one, I saw MAC lipsticks dropping into my life through some divine (read - Weird!) intervention ;-) One of these beauties is 'Flat Out Fabulous' (FOF) which the Husband very sweetly bought for me on one of his trips.

Keeping my 'concise posts' aim in mind, I'm here to share a quick review of this lil beauty with you today -

Price: Around Rs.1500/-

Shade: Flat Out Fabulous is a bright, plum-toned fuchsia shade which would compliment all skin tones - Light to Medium & Medium to Dark. It's a beautiful, happy shade & is best worn during the day.

Texture & Formula: FOF, being a Retro Matte (more dry than regular MAC Matte), slightly tugs while applying & dries out your lips a bit once it settles down. Exfoliating & moisturizing your lips before hand is definitely a MUST with this one. Mostly, all MAC Retro Matte lipsticks tend to dry out the lips, so I've got no specific complaints here .. I'm pretty used to it now!

Pigmentation: FOF goes on slightly patchy due to the sheer dryness of the product. It requires to be swiped at least 2-3 times to get completely opacity. Layering it is a good idea & I do that quite often.  ;-) Here are the swatches of shade -

Left: 1 swipe; Right: Multiple swipes
Wear-time: FOF lasts on my lips for about 4-5 hours not considering meals & drinks. It seems to slightly fade away from the inner part of the lips after a meal & glass of water. I don't always remember to 'touch-up' my lipstick, but FOF has never left me 'bare-lipped' (lol if that's a word!).

Overall Experience: I have loved wearing this shade because it just seems to brighten up my day :-) I have just recently got this lipstick some time ago & have worn it about 6-7 times till now. But please believe me when I say that I have been asked about which lipstick I'm wearing....every single time!

*** Lol, nope I aint gonna Photoshop those undone brows!! I'm a busy Mommy & sometimes it shows...BIG DEAL ;-) ***

Anyway, I love my matte shades & have gotten used to the dry feeling that comes with especially the MAC ones. So yes, this shade dries out your lip quite a bit but is rather lovely to sport if you like 'purpley-pink' (plz tell me people use this word...or is it just me? lol). Flat Out Fabulous is beautiful & I prefer to wear it with white/off-white tops & black ones, where I know the lipstick (rather than the clothes) will take center-stage. I also wear it with pink & purple toned kurtas, where somehow it seems to match them & hence doesn't stand out that much :-) See THIS Instagram photo with my lil one.

Do you own any other MAC shades that you'd like to share here? Do you have a similar shade, by another brand, that you wish to recommend? Leave me all the information in the comments section below!

Hope you liked this quick review. Until the next post, Ciao!!

Biotique Botanicals Bio Pineapple Oil Control Foaming Face Cleanser (Review)

Hi Everyone,

Makeup removal should be effective, yet simple. I need something quick & easy at the end of the day. It's my time to unwind & anything that's more than one step is too time-consuming.

Couple of months ago, I discovered the Biotique Botanicals Bio Pineapple Oil Control Foaming Face Cleanser that claimed to remove makeup too. I tried it out and here's what I think about it.

Price - Rs. 149/- for 120ml (Steal, isn't it?)

Claims - 100% soap free cleanser dissovles makeup, purges pores & purifies complexion. Organically Pure & Preservative Free, Dermatalogically tested for safety & No Animal Testing.

Texture - Just like a normal face cleanser, this product is quite milky and runny in texture.

My experience with the product - I really like this face cleanser. It's a saviour, especially on late nights when you just want a one-step cleansing system.

I take some product in my palms and rub them together. I apply this directly to my face (without splashing water on it, although the packaging says 'apply on wet face'). After massaging it on my face, I take some water and apply it to my face so that I dilute the product a little & it can be easily spread over. At this point of time, I see most of my foundation or BB cream, the eye shadows, lipstick, etc breaking down and coming off. After massaging the face for about a minute or so, I rinse the cleanser off. My face feels fresh & squeaky clean but not dry. I prefer using a moisturizer post a wash, but I don't need to hurry up since the cleanser leaves my face soft & moisturized.

If I have to name a drawback, then I'd say that with this cleanser you'd find it slightly difficult to remove water-proof mascara. I have tried doing so while reviewing the product and while I could remove it eventually, it takes some time. I wear mascara very rarely & so on a daily basis, its nice & easy for me to use this product without any worries. If you tend to wear mascara, you might need to use a proper makeup remover like the Maybelline Total Clean (another favourite!), which breaks down even the toughest of mascaras.

Skin Types - If you have Normal to Oily skin, do give this a try...especially in the summers, you'll surely love it! For Dry skinned beauties, this might not be the ideal product for you. If you do wish to try it out, I'd suggest using a moisturizer after this as your skin may feel parched. Do give it a go & let me know your thoughts.

Hope you liked this post. Leave me a comment to tell me how you remove your makeup & if you have any favourite makeup remover.

Until the next post, Ciao!!
