Favourite Lipsticks Series - Top 5 Everyday Shades

Hey Everyone,

One look at the top drawer of my desk & you'd know that I'm a certified "Lipztickaholic" ;-) More than the usual suspects like night creams, moisturizers, lip balms, etc, you'd find lipsticks lying around. Last year, I became more organized thanks to the blog & began regularly rotating my makeup. I have now made it a point to keep only 5 lipsticks in the top drawer for easy access.

Since I keep rotating my makeup, I add & take-away a lot but I have noticed that these 'Everyday Beauties' have somehow managed to creep into the list time & again :-)

Hand swatches
1. Miss Claire Color Rich Lipstick in No.40 -
A really lovely n*de shade with rosy undertones. I'm not very fond of n*de shades that tend to make me look sick & washed out. I like some color in them, to be able to pull them off & this one fits the bill perfectly! I feel it's a very close dupe to the cult-favourite 'Bare' from the already affordable Colorbar Velvet Matte range. This lipstick however has a cream finish & moisturizes the lip well. I'm wearing it HERE

2. Chambor Powder Matte Lipstick in 156 Rose Fresque -

If you're looking for an everyday matte shade that adds slight color to your face without seeming too bright, this is a great shade for you! It's subtle, 'rosy' makes it appropriate for work too :-) Don't let the name 'Powder Matte' scare you, it's not as 'dry' as the name sounds. Looks completely matte but is extremely comfortable to wear.

3. Maybelline Colorshow Creamy Matte Lipstick in M402 Madly Magenta -
Another scary name - Magenta! lol I was pleasantly surprised when I loved the pinky-purpley shade (gosh! where do I learn these words, I have no idea! Pinky-Purpley!!). As the name suggests, its a creamy matte finish & I would definitely recommend it to someone who loves creamy lipsticks & is looking to venture into mattes. Also, someone who loves their mattes but would like to wear something that moisturizes the lips (Read..ME!!).

4. Rimmel London Lasting Finish Lipstick in 016 Heart Breaker -

A simple & pretty pink shade that's absolutely budget-friendly & great for everyday wear. It has a demi-matte finish & will not dry out your lips. I have reviewed this lipstick HERE

5. Colorbar Kiss Proof Lip Stain in shade 006 Mauve Dusk -

A beautiful, deep mauve that brightens up your face, without screaming for attention :-) This is a very pretty shade that can be sported by all skin tones. This long wear lip stain (read .. almost liquid lipstick) is a boon for anyone who hates touch ups. A great combo of long-stay formula combined with a non-drying texture. There are other lovely shades in this range, but I just love this particular one to bits! I have reviewed this lipstick HERE

So these are my 'Everyday shades' that I like to keep handy. In spite of being, simple & subtle, they have great coverage & will cover pigmentation (if any) on your lips.

Hope you liked this post. Do let me know if you'd like more such series in the future. Here's another one from the 'Favourite Lipsticks Series' - HERE . What are your favourites for everyday wear? I'd love to know... Do share them in the comments section below :-)

Until the next post, Ciao!!!

Note - I feel the hand-swatches haven't done justice to the shades; I clicked them in the harsh afternoon sun. For the true color, plz refer to lip-swatches :-) Thanks!

Berries & Blue Makeup Look

Hi Everyone,

With some extra responsibilities at home, I'm finding it slightly tricky to spend time blogging :-) So I've decided to write shorter, more concise posts for some time. Hope that's alright with all of you & hope you'll give these as much love, as the other more detailed posts!! Thank you :-)

Today, let's see how you can re-create this 'Berries & Blue' Makeup Look (don't judge me, I'm horrible at naming Makeup looks lol..!!) -

1. Face - Moisturize your face & dab on concealer where required. I applied Chambor Radiant Touch concealer on under-eyes, around the nose, chin & between the brows. Set this with a compact of your choice; I've used the Rimmel Stay Matte Powder. Your base makeup is in place!

2. Eyes - Line your eyes with kajal, any black kajal will do. A blue one, actually will work great! Now take a blue eye shadow on a smudger brush & smudge out the kajal. The eye shadow will stick on to the kajal & stay on for hours. I used the Lotus Herbal ColorKick Kajal & BeABombshell eye shadow quad that I had received in my Fab Bag. Next, fill in your brows if required. I have used the MakeUp Academy Brow pencil in Brown.

3. Lips - Use any deep berry shade on the lips. I've used MAC Fashion Revival lipstick for this look. It's a beautiful matte shade but I've topped it off with gloss, just for fun! :-) Other lipsticks that I have tried to pair up with blue eyes are - Lakme Creaseless lipstick in 'Wine Order' & Chambor Extreme Matte lipstick in 'Indulgent Bordeaux' .. these are wine & burgundy shades which also go very well with the eyes :-)

4. Optional - To balance out the bright eyes & deep berry on the lips, I used the Elf Contour & Highlight duo, which my friend Krupa from IshtyleAWhile passed on to me in a recent 'makep swap'. You can use a neutral blush like Maybelline Cheeky Glow in Creamy Cinnamon to do this. You can also skip this step if you wish, to make the eyes & lips stand out.

Products used in the look
It's a no-fuss, no-eye shadow look that you can create in a matter of minutes :-) Hope you liked this quick look that I created.

Until the next post, Ciao!!!

Chambor Extreme Matte Lip Colour - Indulgent Bordeaux

Hi Everyone,

I am Neha and I'm a Lipztick-aholic! Phew! Now that I have confessed that and got it off my chest, let's get to the review of my latest love (in lipsticks of course!!).

I have always loved budget makeup products but sometimes I'm okay with going slightly...slightly over-budget, when it comes to a beautiful product that I absolutely must-have. This, my friends, is one of those. I'm talking about the Chambor Extreme Matte Long Wear Lip Colour in the shade Indulgent Bordeaux.

Price: Rs.795/- (when I bought it)

Packaging is simple, yet sturdy. The skinny lip crayon (Yes, I’m going to call it that and you’ll know why, soon) comes with a colour-coded packaging with a transparent cap. This packaging is nice and easy when you have more than one shade from the same range. In a rush? Quickly pick up the shade you like, without even reading its name!

Talking about the shade, it's a beautiful, deep wine colour as the name ‘Bordeaux’ suggests. This is one, richly pigmented crayon, so all you need one swipe and you're done! The formula is buttery, goes on smoothly on dry lips like mine & settles to a matte finish. Having said this, I have never felt uncomfortable with my dry, chapped lips with this on. If you have extremely dry and chapped lips, then try you might need to use a lip balm for a couple of mins and then wipe off before applying the crayon.

The lipstick stays on for a good 4-5 hours without fading, which means a 'BIG thumbs-up' for staying power! After meals and drinks, the lipstick tends to fade a little but still leaves behind a strong stain, which I am absolutely okay with. As long as, it does not leave me with bare, pigmented lips in full view, I am a happy camper!

I have never owned a colour like this before, as I’m more of a ‘different hues of pink’ kinda person, however this lip colour made me aware of the lovely, so-called “Vampy” shades, that might really look nice on me. I absolutely love it now, since it fetched me lots of compliments.

On the down side, I have an issue with the price. For Rs.795/-, I’m getting a lip-colour that cannot be twisted up like the Revlon or Clinique Chubby Sticks. It needs to be sharpened hence leading to wastage. It pains me to see strips of this beautiful colour on the sharpener, when I do that. So, to sum it all up…

Thumbs Up for –

·         Gorgeous colour
·         Deep pigmentation
·         Not bleeding when used without lip-liner
·         Really Matte
·         Non-drying formula

Thumbs Down for –

·         Price (Yes, I love lipsticks, but I have a home-budget to manage)
·         Being a ‘Has to be sharpened, non-twistable’ lip colour (Now you know why I call this a Crayon!)
