Shop my Stash - March 2016

I know, I know...it's almost the end of March but believe me I've been doing this religiously & I wanted to share it with all of you! I shopped my stash this month!

Silly me, sorry...here goes - "Shopping your Stash" means trying to use up products that you already have...so that's exactly what I've been doing this month. In March, I decided to bring out some of the products in my collection that I used to like a lot, but then got lost somewhere when a new product came along.

Here's my list of 'oldies but goldies' that I've been using in March -

Bora Bora Quad
1. Bora Bora Quad by Be A Bombshell. This came as a part of my Fab Bag & as you can tell, I really, really liked the 'Brown' shade. I have already hit pan on it ;-) but still have been using it most of March. You can read about the quad HERE.

Lakme Pure Rouge Blush - 'Peach Affair'
2. Lakme 9 to 5 Pure Rouge Blush in 'Peach Affair'. I had won this lil beauty in a YouTube giveaway & it's been a favourite since then. I have used it in my celebrity-inspired makeup look - HERE & in Party Makeup looks HERE and HERE. This one's been a regular all of March.

Colorbar Kiss-Proof Lipstain '006 Mauve Dusk'
& Rimmel London Lasting Finish lipstick 'Hearbreaker'
3. Colorbar Kiss-Proof Lipstain in 'Mauve Dusk'. I had reviewed this a while back - HERE The beautiful shade & its great lasting power has brought me back to this baby, this month.

4. Rimmel London Lasting Finish Lipstick in 'Heart Breaker' - reviewed HERE I used to love this shade so much at one point in time. A great budget buy that's come back on my list for 'everyday-wear'.

CK Individual shadows

122-Copper Sun & 124-Myrrh
5. Calvin Klein individual shadows in '112 Copper Sun' & '124 Myrrh'. These satin-finish, neutral eye shadows were passed on to me by my sis-in-law M, who is a big fan of makeup like me. She had got them as gifts in one of her online orders. Thank you M..!!
A wash of these neutral shades on the eyes & it becomes so easy to go bold on the lips. The eyes don't clash with the bright, bold lips & give me the freedom to play around with colours ;-)

How about you? Is there any forgotten product that you've brought out recently? Or you'd like to? :-) Let me know in the comments section below.

Until the next post, Ciao..!!!

Berries & Blue Makeup Look

Hi Everyone,

With some extra responsibilities at home, I'm finding it slightly tricky to spend time blogging :-) So I've decided to write shorter, more concise posts for some time. Hope that's alright with all of you & hope you'll give these as much love, as the other more detailed posts!! Thank you :-)

Today, let's see how you can re-create this 'Berries & Blue' Makeup Look (don't judge me, I'm horrible at naming Makeup looks lol..!!) -

1. Face - Moisturize your face & dab on concealer where required. I applied Chambor Radiant Touch concealer on under-eyes, around the nose, chin & between the brows. Set this with a compact of your choice; I've used the Rimmel Stay Matte Powder. Your base makeup is in place!

2. Eyes - Line your eyes with kajal, any black kajal will do. A blue one, actually will work great! Now take a blue eye shadow on a smudger brush & smudge out the kajal. The eye shadow will stick on to the kajal & stay on for hours. I used the Lotus Herbal ColorKick Kajal & BeABombshell eye shadow quad that I had received in my Fab Bag. Next, fill in your brows if required. I have used the MakeUp Academy Brow pencil in Brown.

3. Lips - Use any deep berry shade on the lips. I've used MAC Fashion Revival lipstick for this look. It's a beautiful matte shade but I've topped it off with gloss, just for fun! :-) Other lipsticks that I have tried to pair up with blue eyes are - Lakme Creaseless lipstick in 'Wine Order' & Chambor Extreme Matte lipstick in 'Indulgent Bordeaux' .. these are wine & burgundy shades which also go very well with the eyes :-)

4. Optional - To balance out the bright eyes & deep berry on the lips, I used the Elf Contour & Highlight duo, which my friend Krupa from IshtyleAWhile passed on to me in a recent 'makep swap'. You can use a neutral blush like Maybelline Cheeky Glow in Creamy Cinnamon to do this. You can also skip this step if you wish, to make the eyes & lips stand out.

Products used in the look
It's a no-fuss, no-eye shadow look that you can create in a matter of minutes :-) Hope you liked this quick look that I created.

Until the next post, Ciao!!!

Teal Smokey Eyes (Party Makeup look)

Hi Everyone,

Today I'm here to share a 'Teal Smokey Eyes' look that I created recently. I have worked with Blue before, in eyemakeup looks & you can read about one HERE. Since that one was done with pigments & some of you gave me feedback that it was slightly difficult to re-create, I thought why not try something similar with eye shadow. This can be a great look for a party or for a special occasion where your outfit is all black. Your eyes will surely stand out :-)

Here's how I created this look -

1. For the base, I used my all time favourite, Lakme CC Cream in Bronze. To set this, I used the Rimmel London Stay Matte Powder in 005 Sily Beige (read review HERE). Along with the CC cream, the powder too, has become a staple in my kit.

2. Using any black kajal pencil, make a thick line on your upper eyelid (make this where you'd place your liquid eyeliner). Some good kajal options available are the Lakme Eyeconic Kajal in Black, Maybelline Colossal Kajal, Loreal Paris Kajal Magique or the Lotus Herbals ColorKick Kajal (read review HERE). Blend this with your ring finger across the moving part of your eyelid. The ring finger has the least amount of pressure and wont harm the eyes or skin. You can also use a small blending brush if you wish to. This is now the 'base' for the smokey eyes.

Vov black eye shadow, Revlon Shadowlink in Khaki,
Blue shade from BoraBora quad & Lotus Herbals Colorkick Kajal
3. Apply a small amount of green/khaki eyeshadow on inner 2/3rds of your eyelid. Top this off with some blue eye shadow to get a good mix. Since I was aiming for Teal, I mixed these two shadows - Revlon eyeshadow link in Khaki & a Blue eye shadow from the BoraBora quad that I received in my Fabbag (See another look with it HERE). If you wish to keep this all one colour then, apply whichever shade that you want.

4. On the outer 1/3rd of the eyelid, apply a matte black eye shadow. I used my trusty VOV matte eyeshadow in Black. Blend this color inwards, towards the blue shade, till they appear to blend together, dont mix them ;-) just make them look like they come together to blend at one point. Using whatever little black is left on the brush / finger, use this in the crease of your eyelids.

5. Use Kajal again on your lower lashline & smudge this out with the blue to complete the look. To finish off the look, I applied the Calvin Klein Mascara on the lower and upper lashes. Wait, before you judge me, let me clarify that I'm a budget-product junkie & this CK Mascara came to me in a makeup swap lol :-P Moving on...I chose to skip liquid eyeliner that day as I wanted to keep the look undefined, but you can line your eyes if you wish to.

Maybelline Colorsensational lipstick in 405 Yummy Plummy
Sorry, I couldnt seem to find the blush while clicking pics, but you can see it HERE.
6. For blush, I used my current favourite, the Lakme 9 to 5 Blush in Peach Affair. This is a beautiful, peachy blush for fair to medium skin tones & goes with mostly any kind of look. For the lips, I wanted a subtle shade so I used the Maybelline Colorsensational Lipstick in 405 - Yummy Plummy.

Hope you liked this look & will try it out some time :-) I have been playing around with a lot of colours while creating different looks but somehow didn't find the time to share a 'step-by-step' post with you all. I will try to be more regular in doing these kind of posts...pinky promise! Sorry, I have been watching way too much Disney Junior!! ;-)

Until the next post, Ciao!!!

May 2015 Fab Bag - Review

Hey Everyone!

I'm back after a short vacay in Mangalore :-) I had so much fun there!! It's nice to be back home now & I was so happy to come home to this lil bundle of surprise. I just had to share what I received for the month of May 2015, with you.

The theme for the May Fabbag was "Sun, Sand & Sexy" so it meant some great beach-y, summer essentials would definitely come my way. Being in Bengaluru, I cant have any 'Beach Days' but one can surely wish to get away to some place that has them, eh? ;-)

Here goes -

1. Vana Vidhi Rice Scrub - Oriental Rice Paddy:

The 70 gms of product comes packaged in a plastic tub with a coppery aluminium cap. It has a strong herbal, Ayurvedic scent to it. It contains goodness of Jojoba oil, Lavender oil, Rosemary oil, Carrot seed oil and other lovely ingredients, blended with brown rice to make a natural scrub.

Vana Vidhi Rice Scrub

I really liked this Rice Scrub over my normal Walnut scrub since this is less damaging to the skin; rice makes for a smoother scrub than most walnut & apricot kernel scrubs available in the market. Also, after the rice grains have gently exfoliated the skin, the oils in the product leave the skin feeling well-moisturized (unlike my regular one, which needs to be followed up quickly with a moisturizer!!) I would still suggest a moisturizer after any kind of exfoliation, but this rice scrub can be followed up with a light-weight one :-)  Another plus for this product is that its free of Sulphates & Parabens!!

2. SAND for Soapaholics - After Glow Face Cleanser:

SAND for Soapaholics - After Glow Cleanser

With all-natural main ingredients like Masoor, Almonds, Aloe Vera, Honey, etc..this one's exclusively for the face. I received this product in a small plastic, ochre-yellow tub (sample size). I took a pea-sized amount on my palm and added a few drops of water to make a paste and then applied it to my face. With mainly an almond scent, this product is really refreshing and leaves your skin feeling soft & supple.

I haven't tried removing my makeup with it, in spite of the 'cleanser' claim :-) I have only used it at night before going to bed for a squeaky-clean face.

3. Black Scarf by Bling:

Scarf

Little disappointed with this one, as I could have got the same (or a better) scarf for Rs.100/- at Colaba Causeway (Mumbai) or MG Road (Bengaluru) hehehe...Its a basic black scarf that "apparently" retails for Rs.500/- (??!!) Lol in case, the people curing this bag haven't noticed - We weren't born yesterday!! :-P

4. Be a Bombshell Eye Shadow Quad in the shade 'Bora Bora':

I forgave the "expensive" scarf debacle, all thanks to this beauty right here!! When I saw reviews & unboxing videos of the May Fabbag on different social media channels, I had hoped to receive this particular product rather the Makeup Stick. Dont get me wrong, the Makeup stick is great too; the eye shadows were just my preference.

The well-loved 'Bora Bora' quad :-)

The quad contains 4 shades (duh, Neha! Obviously!) - Scarlet, Bora Bora, Risky Business & Rock Bottom. I don't exactly know which one's which but I'm absolutely in awe of the pigmentation!! These shades are insanely pigmented and you need very little product to create a bold, colourful look.

Here's a simple look I created wit the quad - I put the 'goldenish' shade all over my eyelid, used the 'taupey-brown' on the outer-V of the eyelid & then blended both with the 'coppery orange' (LOL yes, those are the names I'm gonna roll with!) I also blended my kajal on the lower lash line, with the vibrant Blue shade in the quad, which ended up becoming a highlight of the whole eye-look. And no, I wasn't trying to recreate the 'Ash at Cannes' look with the blue lower lash line...it just happened to be there & I used it...hahaha!

Really liked this month's products, I must say. I also really liked the nautical striped, water-proof bag that the Team has sent this time :-) Maybe because I love the sea, maybe because my Dad was in the Navy, I don't know...but I liked how simple, casual yet sporty it looks!

Have you subscribed to the Fab Bag? What did you get in your bag this month? Let me know if the comments section below...cant wait to hear from you! Hope this sneak peek / mini review helped you in some way :-)

Until the next time... Ciao!

Disclaimer: I have subscribed to Fab Bag on my own. These reviews are my personal opinions and haven't been sponsored. I have always maintained that apart from the 'delay in delivery', I have not had any issues with the Fab Bag Team. Their products are usually nice and I have never had a bad experience with them till date..Touchwood! ;-)
